Being single is the best time to take inventory and ensure that you are a good relationship candidate. Whether you are just coming out of a bad relationship or looking for a better one, it is imperative that you “fix” yourself before getting involved with anyone else.

Here are the best tips and tricks for improving yourself before becoming involved in another dating relationship.

One of the most notorious behaviors of a person coming out of a bad break up is letting themselves go. We have all seen the person looking good and then shortly after the breakup they are scraggly, un-kept and always in sweats.

It is very important whether single or currently dating to make sure that you always maintain your appearance. Sure we become comfortable with ourselves and think less of making sure that every hair is in place, but you must make sure that you are always presentable. Remember others judge your appearance and make many assumptions about you based only on your outer look. If you are groomed as well as look nice, others will automatically assume that you are confident and happy.

Is this always true? Well probably not, but it is all in the perception. The moral of the story is to ensure that you do not let yourself go, keep up with the times and stay in style.
While you are single is an excellent time to inventory your wardrobe. Not only clothes, but also check your shoes, socks and underwear. If all your clothes are ten years old, wrong colors and have stains from days gone past, it is time to say goodbye.

Find a way to get a new wardrobe, save, scrimp, and borrow or whatever it takes to get yourself looking good again. It is important to maintain a stylish wardrobe, otherwise you will be in the dating scene by yourself.

Nobody wants to see those polyester leisure suits, especially the ones with the coffee stains! Also take inventory on the underwear and socks. There is nothing worse when dating someone to see stained underwear or holes in socks. It is really gross and can ruin any mood!

Take the time to heal old wounds, let the past go. Without a partner in your life at the current time it is a great time to let go of a past relationship turned bad. If you have had trouble getting over your ex-lover now is the time to work through the anger, bitterness and other emotions that go along.

Chances are that if you have suffered a bad breakup you have not completely healed from the hurt and trauma, causing problems in other relationships. Sometimes people do not even realize that their ex-lover, mother in law or other feelings are getting in the way of a healthy, productive relationship. Look inside yourself and really get to the core of your soul. Spend some time ridding yourself of past hurts before you drag anyone else in. This is not harmful only to the relationship it puts the both of you through unnecessary stress and heartaches.

Best of all – have fun while you are single. Enjoy your new found freedom and do those things that you stayed away from while in a dating relationship. Not having anyone to answer to can be great, freedom is a very uplifting and a treasured feeling. Granted, too much freedom can cause loneliness, but enjoy it while you can!

There are generally a ton of other people that have found themselves in a single situation and would love your company during their single time too. Think of it this way, go out have a good time and look for someone when you are ready. But use this single time to take a good look at yourself, make repairs and have a heck of a time on the town.

No need to sit home and stew about relationships gone bad, life is too short!
